Fraud Analyst
Join Kord as Fraud Analyst — drive end-to-end transaction reviews, reduce false positives, and strengthen our fraud controls in a growing UK fintech.
About Kord
Kord is an FCA-regulated fintech that helps regulated businesses across the UK bring client onboarding and client money together in one place. Through KYC, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and identity checks, secure digital wallets and dedicated client money accounts, we help firms verify who they are dealing with and handle funds safely and reliably.
We recently closed a £6.4m Series A funding round, a milestone we are grateful for and one we treat as a responsibility rather than a finish line. As we grow, so do the number of clients we serve and the complexity of what we handle, and keeping Kord, our clients and the people who rely on our platform safe from fraud and financial crime matters more than ever. This is where you come in.
The role
We are looking for a data-driven, hands-on Fraud Analyst to join our expanding compliance team. You will work directly alongside our MLRO, Head of Compliance and two existing analysts. Your primary focus will be running end-to-end reviews of transaction monitoring alerts, mitigating fraud risk, and improving our detection systems to protect both our genuine clients and the business.
Key responsibilities
Alert investigation and case management
End-to-end review: Carry out daily, hands-on investigations of transaction monitoring alerts, in line with Kord's internal policies and our anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) obligations.
Case disposition: Analyse complex transactional data to close alerts accurately, or escalate high-risk, suspicious activity to the MLRO.
Fraud mitigation: Identify and investigate emerging fraud typologies, account takeover (ATO) attempts, and unusual payment patterns across our e-wallet and embedded account ecosystems.
System optimisation and collaboration
Tech stack: Make full use of advanced risk tools, including LexisNexis, automated compliance monitoring systems, and behavioural fraud and biometric verification tools.
False positive reduction: Review alert performance to reduce false positives, keeping the experience smooth for genuine clients without increasing risk.
Framework evolution: Feed practical insights to the MLRO and Head of Compliance to tune rules and strengthen Kord's transaction monitoring framework.
Team support: Work closely with the other two analysts to share knowledge, spread the workload, and keep standards high.
Requirements and qualifications
Experience
Banking or EMI experience: at least 4 years in fraud analysis or financial crime investigation within banking, ideally an EMI (PSP or a fast-paced fintech environment also welcome).
Product knowledge: A solid understanding of payment flows for e-wallets, embedded finance, cross-border payments or banking-as-a-service (BaaS).
Technical skills
Tool proficiency: Hands-on experience with LexisNexis (or equivalent screening tools), automated compliance monitoring software, and biometric or identity verification systems.
Data literacy: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to read raw payment data and spot trends or anomalies.
Core competencies
Communication: Able to document investigative findings clearly and explain risk rationale to the MLRO and senior management.
Adaptability: Comfortable in a growing team where processes evolve quickly.
Please note: Kord is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Kord is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.

About Kord
Kord is a London-based fintech helping regulated businesses including law firms, conveyancers, and estate and lettings agents manage identity checks, compliance, client onboarding, and payments from one platform
Founded in 2019 by James Owusu, Kord (formerly known as Checkboard) was built to bring together processes that are often handled by separate systems and teams, cutting out manual work and reducing the risk of fraud along the way.
We work with firms handling high-value, high-stakes transactions, particularly in property and legal services, giving them the tools to onboard clients and process payments quickly, securely, and with confidence.
It's a fast-moving space, and we're growing quickly alongside it, which means plenty of opportunity for the people who join us to make a real impact.
